If you know me at all, you would know that I only need half a reason to travel and fly somewhere.
Last weekend, I flew to Los Angeles to attend a two day live event all geared towards personal development – being the best version of yourself etc etc, before flying right back home again.
The event was sensational and the best live event I have ever attended with outstanding world class speakers and lessons. The speakers included Brendon Burchard, Mel Robbins, Tom Bilyeu, Keith Ferrazzi, Scooter Braun and many others – 19 in total across two days. Don’t worry, I had to look up some of them too to find out who they are.
I thought I would share a sample of some of the things I learned hoping they may resonate with you and help you in some small way. The information below is really just a small sample of two days of outstanding quality content presented in an entertaining and lively manner.
So in no particular order, here we go …
- People and your relationships with people remain paramount.
- The importance of close friends and that people are everything to your Success
- The importance of your passion, your purpose and having clarity on who you are
- What specific questions do you need to have to answer the question, “have I lived a good life?”
- If you leave your personal development to randomness, you are destined to have a life of mediocrity.
- Success in life is helping others – If you have a gift, you need to share it.
- We don’t focus enough on who we are, we focus too much on who we are not.
- When a child turns 18, it is estimated they have heard the word ‘no’ 150,000 times but only heard the word ‘yes’ 5000 times. Therefore we are almost taught to think in negative terms and that you are not able to do something.
- Relationships is much more important than money:
- you may have a house but not a home
- you may have success but no significance
- you may have power but no purpose
- you may have money but no meaning
- Comparison is the ultimate misery
- You should seek clarity on who you are and what you want.
- You should get rid of toxic people out of your life – they will only keep dragging you backwards.
- Above all else, the #1 most important thing in the world is to be the best human being you can be
- Often people lead a life of two halves – the first half they keep telling themselves they are too young to do something, and then the second half, that they are too old.
- I was introduced to the Stanford University Marshmallow experiment which was studying the ability to delay gratification. Those who were able to delay the longest were generally more successful – read more here.
- Who is the most influential person in your life? They are most likely the most influential because of 3 things:
- They taught you how to think
- They challenged you
- They were a role model
- Five high performance habits – productivity, people skills, psychology, physiology and purpose.
